Dental clinic design
In a clinic, design has a clinical job before it has an aesthetic one: clean and dirty circuits must not cross, surfaces must take daily disinfection without dulling, and equipment must fit with its service space included.
The rest is about the patient. The waiting room is where it is decided whether someone comes back. We work with warm light, with materials that do not sound like a hospital, and with a distance between chairs that does not force anyone to sit against a stranger.
What matters in this kind of space
- 01
Circuits
Separate routes for instruments, for staff and for patients. Sterilisation gets a position and an area in the first sketch, not whichever room is left at the end.
- 02
Surfaces
Continuous finishes, without needless joints, resistant to disinfectants. Curved junctions wherever cleaning calls for them.
- 03
Light at the chair
High colour rendering in the working zone, so the shade of a tooth is read correctly, and indirect light elsewhere, so a reclined patient is not staring into a fitting.
- 04
The wait
Soft acoustics, a clear view of reception, and a route that does not make the patient leaving walk in front of those still waiting.
